The Seahawks have signed former Buffalo Bills starting quarterback J.P. Losman and waived third-string quarterback Mike Teel. Agent Gary Wichard told The Associated Press in an e-mail Tuesday night it's a $630,000, one-year contract, which Losman signed Wednesday. The Seahawks added yet another intriguing name to their quarterback mix by signing former Bills first-round pick J.P. Losman.
Losman, who played for Las Vegas in the UFL in that league's inaugural season before signing with Oakland late last season, arrives as the No. 3 quarterback for now. Former Central Washington star Mike Reilly was released, and Mike Teel might be the next to be shown the door.
Losman has a strong arm and excellent mobility. Reading defenses and throwing with accuracy has been his nemesis as an NFL quarterback. But he worked with Jim Fassel in the UFL, and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is willing to see if Losman has progressed in handling the position at the NFL level.
